POTAWATOMI CASINO – EXTERIOR
IIDA Award of Merit
This casino decided to rejuvenate their façade lighting to herald the start of a major expansion. The only stipulation was an eight-week schedule from design inception to installation completion. Windows, sidewalks and parapet setbacks precluded typical floodlighting.
The designers wanted color, but filtering would not meet energy requirements. Color-emitting HID lamps were chosen in a palette four lively colors. Without time for mockups, extensive computer modeling seen here in thumbnails demonstrated the solution and multitude of color combinations. Amber for columns, tower mullions and banners, salmon for middle level and blue for sky level were chosen. Flame towers received two layers of uplight, while green uplights added to flame bowls highlighted copper.
The lighting and color scheme gave new depth and excitement to this casino’s façade, becoming a vivid landmark that attracts patrons with colorful anticipation.
