ANiU SALON
IIDA Award of Merit
Crisp cool lighting, contemporary styling, and a holistic approach to personal care set the Zen-like tone for this runner up to Salon Today’s “Salon of the Year”. The overall lighting design concept was for a Yin-Yang relationship of contrasting cool and warm tones of light in various spaces creating varying degrees of visual warmth or coolness for additional comfort. The lighting scheme of cool transitions and warm destinations is also suggestive of the Scandinavian purification ritual brought by the hot tub and ice bath.
The idea of heavy economical indirect light supplemented with direct halogen sources was carried throughout the salon with an emphasis on independently adjustable controls. In the individual rooms as well as at each workstation the user has the ability to customize their lighting for the time of day, the task performed, and both their own and the patron’s moods thus improving the quality of the lighting for everyone concerned and the economical performance of the system.
