Golds Gym

For this project, the owner wanted an “over the top” look to make his franchise stand out, with a fun approach to exercise that showcased his “hero” theme coupled with high energy motivation.

To highlight the architecture and emphasize the heroic theme, theatrically projected images such as stars, spangles, and splats were used throughout the space. To accompany the peaks and valleys of an exercise routine, these images, as well as the rest of the lighting pass through their own automatic routine ranging from moderate “flow” and “animation” to highly chaotic “energy”, “fight”, “storm”, and “climax.” For example, the clock tower is defined with different colored lights and animations from inside and below. The cyclone-shaped DJ booth has sequencing shafts of light that simulate a spinning tornado, and enjoys other projected highlights such as music when the DJ is present. And a mesmerizing “G” is projected onto the waterfall adjacent to the changing booth window.

This wild and energetic lighting design was created on a surprisingly low budget, but provided the owner with a top rate facility. The project swept all national and international gym and health club awards.
