VILLA TERRACE DECORATIVE ARTS MUSEUM
IIDA Award of Merit
An elemental style was created with lighting that is subtle, textural, and sculptural, thus developing a visual focus and balance that would embrace the historic architectural period with a natural charm and romantic mood, without being obtrusive. In the Great Hall, miniature floating lighting track was customized with a dark finish to match the beamed Georgia pine ceiling, allowing for subtle focus onto the art and suggesting the light was coming from the candle chandeliers and sconces. The Züber Gallery and English Gallery use miniature floating track to highlight art and minimize visual conflict with the historic interiors. Small aperture recessed downlights are used in other areas to provide drama while maintaining the look of original ceilings.
